1. You have three cans A, B, and C.
Can A contains 3 L of apple juice
Can B contains 4 L of pineapple juice
Can C contains 2 L of cranberry juice
Q: Mix the juices from all the three cans to get a desert cooler mocktail. How many mocktail drinks can be made if the capacity of each glass is 500 ml?
Total juice = 3 + 4 + 2 = 9 L = 9000 ml
Each glass = 500 ml
Number of glasses = 9000 ÷ 500 = 18 glasses
2. A single packet of chips weighs 150 g.
Q: How many such packets are needed to pack 1.2 kg of chips?
1.2 kg = 1200 g
Number of packets = 1200 ÷ 150 = 8 packets
3. A train departs from station P at 07:25 hours.
It takes 9 hours 15 minutes to reach station Q.
Q: At what time does the train arrive at station Q?
07:25 + 9 hrs 15 mins = 16:40 hours or 4:40 PM
4. Can your ruler with smallest division 2 mm be used to accurately measure the length of an object to one decimal place of a centimetre? Why?
No, because 2 mm = 0.2 cm.
To measure accurately to one decimal place (0.1 cm), the ruler must have 1 mm divisions.
