🌈 Rainbow mind map — Energy

Definition: Energy is the ability to do work.
Work–Energy relationship: Work and energy can be converted into each other.
Units: SI unit — joule (J); common unit — calorie (cal). Relation: 1 cal = 4.2 J.
Forms of Energy: Mechanical — (i) Kinetic (due to motion) (ii) Potential (due to position); Chemical; Muscular; Electrical; Magnetic; Heat; Light; Sound.
Energy Transformation: Energy can change from one form to another (e.g., chemical → heat, potential ↔ kinetic).
Law of Conservation of Energy: Energy can neither be created nor destroyed; it is converted from one form to another or transferred between objects.
Example — Roller Coaster:
Cars gain potential energy when pulled to the top of a hill; as they descend potential energy converts to kinetic energy, which then helps them climb the next hill — process repeats (dissipates gradually due to friction/air resistance).
