🌈 RAINBOW MIND MAP: ELECTRIC CURRENT
Class 7 – ICSE Physics

  • 🔴 Electricity & Electric Current:
Electricity is a form of energy. Electric current is the flow of electric charges (electrons) through a conductor.
  • 🟠 Conductors & Insulators:
Conductors allow current to flow (copper, aluminium). Insulators do not allow current (rubber, plastic, glass).
  • 🟡 Electric Circuit:
A closed circuit allows current to flow. An open circuit does not allow current to flow.
  • 🟢 Sources of Electric Current:
A dry cell converts chemical energy into electrical energy. A battery is a combination of two or more cells.
  • 🔵 Components of Electrical Circuit:
Cell or battery, connecting wires, switch, and load (bulb, fan, resistor).
  • 🟣 Types of Circuits:
Series circuit has the same current throughout. Parallel circuit has independent paths and is used in homes.
  • 🟪 Safety Measures:
Do not touch appliances with wet hands, use earthing, avoid metal objects in sockets.
Think & Comment:
Why are parallel circuits preferred for domestic wiring?

  1. It is used so that if a bulb stops working the other bulbs will work

  2. Because if a heavy load is connected, it works instead of just acting as a resistor and if one load malfunctions or stops working, it doesnt end up opening the circuit and keeps the circuit running, it also ends the problem of having different operating current that occurs in series circuit.
