Write your name, enrolment numbers, AI name and subject on the first page of the
answer sheet.
1.Answer any one of the following questions in about 40-60 words. (2)
b) Ram is down with high fever. His mother measures his body temperature to 39°C using a Celsius thermometer. Before leaving for the doctor’s clinic, she wants to know the value on Fahrenheit scale. Help her to convert the temperature on Fahrenheit scale.
(See lesson 14)
Answer 1(b): -
Given: - temperature in Celsius scale = 39⁰C
F= 1.8 C + 32
= 1.8 x 39 + 32
= 70.2+32= 102.2
Ram’s body temperature is 39 ⁰C = 102.2 ⁰F.
2. Answer any one of the following questions in about 40 to 60 words. (2)
(a) An element X has a valency 3+ (See lesson 6)
i
) Write the formula of its phosphide
(ii) Write the formula of the carbonate
(iii) Write the formula of its nitrate
(iv) Write the formula of its Borates
Answer 2(b): -
i) formula of
its phosphide- XP
(ii) the formula of the carbonate- X2(CO3)3
(iii) the formula of its nitrate- X(NO3)3
(iv) the formula of its Borates – X2B2O6
3. Answer any one of the following questions in about 40 to 60 words
.
b) Construct a food chain explaining flow of energy and nutrients in an ecosystem.
Answer 3(b): -
A food chain is a linear sequence of organism through which nutrients and energy is pass on from one organism to another. The levels in the food chain- the producer, primary consumer, high-level consumers and finally decomposer.
1. The grasshopper eats grass
2. Frog eats grasshopper
3. Snake ears frog
4. Hawk eats Snake
5. Hawk dies fungi breaks its body into nutrients
6. Nutrients, water, air and sunlight cause grass to grow.
4. Answer any one of the following questions in about 100 to 150 words.
a) Mass of a body is 25 kg. What is its weight in newton on earth? If the body is carried to
a planet whose mass is two times the mass of earth and radius is half that of earth. What
will be the mass and weight of the body on the planet? (Take the value of a g on earth as
10 m / s²)
Answer 4(a): -
Given m= 25 kg, g= 10 m/s²
Weight of a body on earth = m x g
= 25 x10 = 250 N
Body is carried to a planet whose mass is 2 times of earth = 2M and radius half of the earth = R/2
Acceleration due to gravity on the planet
g’ = GM/R²
= G x 2M/(R/2) ²
= 8 x 10 = 180 m/s²
Mass of a body on that planet = 25 kg
Weight of a body on a planet = m× g’= 25 x 80
= 2000 N
5.Answer any one of the following questions in about 100 to 150 words.
b) How do the following contribute towards global warming?
() Grazing cattle
(ii) Overpopulated cities
(iii) Factories
(iv) Burning Waste
Answer 5(b): -
The following factors contributing towards global warming
() Grazing cattle- plants are making source of oxygen. They take carbon dioxide and release oxygen there by maintaining balance. Grazing cattle led to an environmental imbalance, giving rise to global warming.
ii) Overpopulated cities- It is also one of the factors of global warming, more population means more demand of fossil fuels which emit a large amount of carbon dioxide and other toxic in the atmosphere resulting rise in temperature thus global warming.
iii) Factories- With the advent of industrialization, the temperature of the earth has been increasing rapidly due to addition of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere resulting global warming.
iv) Burning of wastes. - When organic waste is burnt, carbon dioxide and methane gas is created Both carbon dioxide and methane are greenhouse gases, which contribute to global warming.
6. Answer the following Questions.
Prepare any one project out of the given below.
(a) Answer the following Questions.
(i) What is novel “Coronavirus”?
(ii) List out the symptoms of novel coronavirus.
(iii) What should we do if someone in family gets l with COVID-19?
(iv) Why it is important to follow the guidelines to prevent transmission?
(v) How can you avoid the risk of infection?
Answer 6(a): -
I. Novel coronavirus (nCoV) is a provisional name given to coronaviruses of medical significance before a permanent name is decided upon. Although coronaviruses are endemic in humans and infections normally mild, such as the common cold (caused by human coronaviruses in ~15% of cases), cross-species transmission has produced some unusually virulent strains which can cause viral pneumonia and in serious cases even acute respiratory distress syndrome and death.
II. Most common symptoms:
• fever
• cough
• tiredness
• loss of taste or smell.
Less common symptoms:
• sore throat
• headache
• aches and pains
• diarrhoea
• a rash on skin, or discolouration of fingers or toes
• red or irritated eyes.
.
iii. We should do the followings if someone in family gets ill with COVID-19-
●secure physical distance between people (of at least one metre)
● reduce contact with contaminated surfaces
●Isolating infected person
●Use of double masks by family members
●Washing hands with soap frequently.
iv. It is important to follow the guidelines i.e., Social and physical distancing measures aim to slow the spread of disease by stopping chains of transmission of COVID-19 and preventing new ones from appearing
V) Avoid touching surfaces specially in the public setting or health facilities in case people infected with COVID-19 have touched them clean surface regularly with standard disinfectant frequently clean hands with soap and water or sanitizer ..
