Introduction: Graph is defined as to create a diagram that shows a relationship between two variables. Independent variable taken on X axis and dependent variable taken on Y axis.

Graph

Graphical representation of motion: It is useful to study the nature of motion of a body. In this type of representation, time which is independent variable is taken  along X-axis while displacement or velocity or acceleration which is dependent variables is taken  along Y-axis. Graphs give more detailed information about the nature of motion.

There are three types of graphical representation of motion:

1. Displacement-Time graph: Variation in displacement with respect to time

2. Velocity-Time graphVariation of Velocity with respect to time

3. Acceleration-Time graph: Variation of acceleration with respect to time

Displacement -Time graph
 1. Body at rest
2. Uniform motion
3. Non Uniform motion:
 i) rate decreasing
ii) rate increasing

Velocity-Time graph
i) Body at rest
ii) Uniform motion
iii) rate of change of Velocity constant uniform acceleration)
iv) rate of change of Velocity not constant ( Non Uniform acceleration)

Acceleration-Time graph
i) uniform motion (acceleration zero)
ii) uniform acceleration (non Uniform motion)
iii) non Uniform acceleration ( Non Uniform motion)

Area of the graph
i)  of Velocity-Time graph gives displacement
ii) of Acceleration-Time graph gives Velocity

 Slope of the
i) Displacement-Time graph gives velocity
ii) Velocity-Time graph gives acceleration.
