Temperature is the degree of hotness or coldness of a body which decides the direction of flow of heat. As it is used to express hot and cold conditions, the temperature is usually measured with a thermometer. Two common thermometer scales are Celsius and Fahrenheit. There are two fixed points in thermometer. Upper fixed point ( steam point) and lower fixed point ( ice point)
SI Unit of Temperature
The SI unit of temperature as per the International System of Units is Kelvin which is represented by the symbol K. The Kelvin scale is widely accepted or used in the field of science and engineering. However, in most parts of the world, Celsius or Fahrenheit scale is used for measuring temperature.
Unit kelvin is named after the Belfast-born Glasgow University engineer and physicist William Thomson, 1st Baron Kelvin (1824–1907).
