Measurement is the process of comparison of the given quantity with the known standard quantity of the same nature.
Measurement = N x U
N- numerical value
U- unit
Unit
is the quantity of a constant magnitude which is used to measure the magnitudes
of other quantities of the same nature.
PHYSICAL QUANTITY
In our day to day life, we come across so many physical quantities like distance, mass, weight, speed, etc.
Physical quantity refers that quantity that can be measured. Sometimes magnitude is sufficient to completely describe that quantity like mass- 5kg but sometimes direction also plays an role and magnitude and direction both needed to describe that physical quantity like weight of the weight- 100N (direction vertically downward)
Details
Physical quantities as -- 1. Fundamental
2. Derived
Fundamental Quantities:- Independent physical quantities are fundamental quantities.
For example:- length, mass, time etc. are independent of each other.
Derived Quantities:- Some physical quantities can be derived from other physical quantities called derived quantities
For example:- density, area, pressure, etc.
